On saturday night the clocks were changed again from Daylight Saving Time to Central European Time. From now on you will wake up with sunlight.
Daylight saving time is the practice of moving the clocks forward one hour from Standard Time during the summer months and changing them back again in the fall.
The aim of changing clocks has been to save energy since the middle of the 18th century. Benjamin Franklin is the founder of the Summer Time. The French used summer time because of an oil crisis and Germans used summer time as a war measure to save energy.
The more energy is used in winter. Due to the price explosion on the energy market, saving energy is at most important. We need to warm up rooms and more electricity is used to light up the longer, darker hours of the day. So switching from summer to winter time saves energy. In summer, the evenings are lighter for longer and therefore we save one hour of electricity by changing the time.
